As every year, the three organisers, AFE, CSES and IED, organise congresses in Europe to promote exchange and cooperation between their members and European environmental professionals. In 2019, two congresses take place in Paris and Edinburgh, from 28 June to 4 July.

Overview
On 9 January 2018, the two heads of state announced the Franco-Chinese Year of the Environment; the two environment ministers announced its official opening in Beijing on 19 November 2018. A series of bilateral events is taking place throughout the year. The Franco-Chinese Energy Association (AFE), founded in 1999 and based in Paris, aims to promote cooperation between France/Europe, Africa and China in the energy and environmental sectors. The Institut Énergie et Développement (IED), founded in June 1989, notably enables staff and user representatives to call on experts when examining files with management. The Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES), founded in 1978, is the first Chinese association for the environment and the largest organisation in the sector, with members from government, companies and research institutes.
