About the Association

A professional platform connecting the energy sectors of France, China and Europe

— About us

A bridge between the energy communities of France, China and Europe

The Franco-Chinese Energy Association (Association Franco-Chinoise de l'Énergie, AFE) is headquartered in Paris. It aims to promote cooperation in the energy sector in the broad sense, between France and China and, more broadly, among Europe, Africa and China.

The first large-scale energy cooperation between France and China dates back more than 30 years, to the Daya Bay nuclear power plant project. Since then, the two governments have signed a series of framework agreements in energy and related fields. Against the backdrop of the global energy transition and the expanding energy internet, AFE promotes scientific, technological and management exchanges between these countries and regions, and serves as a bridge for this cooperation.

— Our mission

— Specialised committees

6 specialised committees

01 · Ecology and Energy Saving

The committee attracts experts and companies interested in ecological and energy-efficient technologies: soil remediation, VOC treatment, industrial wastewater, waste-to-value and hazardous waste disposal.

02 · Energy Finance and Internet+

At the crossroads of energy and the internet, the committee examines the financial policies, economic knowledge, IT tools and internet innovations relevant to the energy industry in the Internet+ era. It offers experts and researchers working on new energies and internet-based business models a forum for exchange across industry, cloud computing, big data and more.

03 · Non-renewable Energy

The committee is committed to guiding the non-renewable energy industry (coal, gas and oil), with a focus on technology and R&D. It provides companies, governments and institutions with technical, economic and organisational services and advice, and offers experts and academics a platform for exchanging ideas and techniques.

04 · Smart Home and Energy Efficiency Management

The committee guides the application of new energy in line with new building standards. It follows the latest technologies and projects in energy efficiency management that make ecological buildings "smart" through industrial automation and data acquisition and analysis, and on this basis explores and innovates in Internet+ and the smart home.

05 · New Energy and Grid Integration Technologies

The committee works where new-energy generation meets the power system: the energy policies of different countries, research and standardisation of grid-control technologies, the share of new energy in consumption and its commercial distribution models, and grid connection technologies. It brings together international experts in new energy and electrical systems to form a distinctive platform for exchange among academia, research and industry.

06 · Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicles

The committee unites experts, academics, students and companies interested in energy storage technologies and business models, electric vehicle technology (batteries and hydrogen fuel cells) and charging, and connected-vehicle networks. Seminars, learning sessions and other activities are organised regularly.
